Data as Kinetic Art
Xandr | AT&T | New York
Project Highlight:
Inspired by Xandr’s namesake, Alexander Graham Bell, and his tetrahedral box kites, this ceiling sculpture at over 100 feet long, 300 individual computer-driven motors, and hundreds of LED lights, is the largest kinetic sculpture in New York City.
Challenge:
Inspired by AT&T’s rich legacy and the culture of a modern, tech-driven startup, Xandr asked Gensler to create a monumental brand moment that would welcome and awe their visitors and clients.
Design Approach:
“Tetra” is an interactive installation that greets workers and visitors in the lobby. It is a physical manifestation of Xandr’s brand and mission, brought to life in a 21st Century Workshop—a place for today’s inventors, makers and coders to experiment, create, and build the digital tools and machines of the future.
